SIX hundred Ribble Valley pupils will get safety lessons at a major event next month.
The Streetwise conference, backed by Ribble Valley Council and Clitheroe conservatory giant Ultraframe, will take place at the Mytton Fold Farm Hotel, Langho, from June 28 to July 2.
The hotel will be turned into a classroom for a week of safety sessions led by the emergency services, utility companies and community groups.
The event, also supported by the Ribble Valley Crime and Disorder Partnership, the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Primary Care Trust, the Preston Primary Care Trust, Blackburn Rovers in the Community, United Utilities, Northern Rural Partnerships and Lancashire Safer Transport, is aimed at primary school pupils aged 10 and 11 and will include sessions on dealing with fires and gas leaks, as well as farm, water and road safety and basic first aid.
Ribble Valley Council quality of life officer John Barber said: "We are pleased to support this event for the second year. It's about giving youngsters basic training that might save their lives."
