DANNY Law's nine-wicket burst against Ribblesdale Wanderers not only kept Read flying high at the top of the Veka Ribblesdale League table, but was also the former county man's best-ever bowling return.
Law revealed that he once claimed eight wickets in a junior match but had never before bettered a six-wicket haul in senior cricket.
"It was a fabulous day and I really enjoyed it," said the Read professional, who clean bowled seven of his victims in a devastating 8.5 over spell.
"Everything just went right, from taking a wicket in the first over and it just snowballed from there."
Law's figures of 9-32 have been bettered only once in the league since Glen Mills took all 10 wickets in a game for Blackburn Northern 14 years ago.
His destruction of Wanderers - interrupted only by a wicket for Andrew Rushton, to a catch by Law - also included a hat-trick to go with the two Law has previously taken in his career.
The former Sussex and Essex seamer has enjoyed a wonderful start to his Read career since joining the club following his release from Durham.
His 26 wickets make him the leading wicket-taker in the league and have helped the defending champions gain a stranglehold on the title race.
"I'm over the moon with how its gone," he added.
"We are playing some really good cricket and hopefully we can keep it going for the rest of the season."
Great Harwood are next in Law's sights this Saturday, but it's not just the 28-year-old's form with the ball that Harwood need to worry about.
Law has posted three-half centuries in the league so far and warmed up over the past few days by scoring 82 and then a century for Cambridgeshire in their one-wicket Minor Counties defeat to Northumberland at Jesmond.
