MEMBERS of Padiham's Pub Watch scheme now have new radios to enable them to keep in touch and pass on information about potential troublemakers.
The radios, which will eventually be rolled out to all the Padiham Pub Watch members, have been paid for by Burnley Community Safety Partnership.
They will go live from Tuesday following a launch at the New Black Bull pub on Mill Street.
Community Beat Manager PC Derek Mitchell said: "Almost every pub in Padiham takes part in the pub watch scheme which involves a partnership between the police and local licensees.
"They meet regularly and share information with each other and the police with the ultimate aim of trying to deter potential troublemakers and reduce the risk of drink-related criminality.
"The scheme, which has been running for about a year now has already enjoyed a great deal of success.
"However, the radios will further improve the scheme making it easier for pub watch members to stay in touch and pass on information about potential troublemakers across the airwaves.
"This is vital given the current national spotlight on drink-related violence. We're all delighted with the new initiative and very grateful for the funding from Burnley Community Safety Partnership."
