VOLUNTEERS joined workers from United Utilities to clean-up part of Atherton.
Engineers teamed up with the Atherton Litter Free Group to help their Cleaner Greener Campaign and this litter-pick follows United Utilities improvements to Atherton Brook which runs along the back of Howe Bridge Leisure Centre.
Sewer overflow work at Lovers Lane will help ensure rubbish and sewage related litter doesn't end up in the brook after heavy rain.
Project manager, Trevor Steward, said: "We've been very grateful to the local community for their patience while our work has been carried out and thanks to everyone who came along and worked hard."
