MEMBERS of a village women's group will each have a tree planted in a WI wood in one of the world's poorest countries.
Thanks to Yorkshire Tea, which has been providing Culcheth WI with a free year's supply of brews since 1990, work has started on developing the project in Eastern Ethiopia.
Working in conjunction with Oxfam the company is aiming to plant a quarter of a million trees, one for every WI member in the country, and members are urged to collect their tokens.
The craft group is making greetings cards and on June 12 there will be a trip to Powys Castle.
On June 30 members are off to the Lowry to see the musical "Crazy For You" and the annual day trip on July 20 will be to Ulleswater and the Rhegad Centre.
Members voted on three national resolutions -- the trafficking of women, GM foods and air ambulance funding.
