A SEVERELY disabled youngster is set to fly abroad for a well-deserved break thanks to kind-hearted people from Atherton and Leigh.
Ten-year-old James Kirby was struck down by meningitis as a baby, leaving him paralysed from the neck down, blind and deaf, yet thanks to fund-raisers he'll soon be off to Salou and Furteventura.
The two latest charity nights for James have raised almost £900.
Race night organiser and James's friend Julie Norcross, of Shelley Street, Leigh thanked regulars at the Wheatsheaf pub in Leigh who raised £417.50 towards his adventure, while a charity night at the Formby Hall in Atherton -- boosted by Gary Porter of Lancashire Cricket Club -- helping to realised an additional £480.
The original intention was to send James to the Disneyworld theme park in Florida, but his family decided it would not be advisable for him to fly such a long distance and instead he will sample the delights Salou and Furteventura.
