A BLACKBURN school pupil is off to Transylvania after being chosen for a prestigious travel grant.
Jade Hundziak, 18, of Grimsargh, who goes to Westholme School, has won one of just seven travel awards given by the Independent Schools Travel Association.
The physics, pure mathematics and French student will head out to Romania this summer to work in an orphanage in Transylvania arranged by Teaching Projects Abroad. The £250 she received will also enable her to travel to the Ukraine to join an agricultural community near Lviv which is near to her family roots.
Jade has been fundraising for the trip for a long time and was delighted by the news.
Westholme principal Lillian Croston said: "It is important for our students to become world citizens and to empathise with different communities around the globe."
