I DON'T know how people can be so heartless as to dump their trusting family pet so they can take a few day's break.
Following the recent Bank Holiday, Manchester Dogs' Home tell me the kennels are full to bursting because so many uncaring owners have done just that.
And with another coming up this weekend matters could get even worse.
The home desperately needs to find loving families for over 200 dogs on rehoming row - muts of every age, shape and size from magnificent mongrels to full pedigrees.
All the guests, who are collected from a 50 mile radius of Manchester, have been vaccinated and microchipped, so if any Leigh area pets have accidentally escaped owners should check if they are there. Ring 0161 205 2205 or 0161 205 7136. Those who have dumped them for selfish reasons don't bother.
I hope the traumatised dogs are lucky enough to find someone who'll really give them a good home this time and not just discard them like an old coat.
