UNSWORTH had a weekend of contrasting fortunes against Rochdale at Pole Lane.
Paul Entwistle's side narrowly lost out to the defending champions on Saturday in the Central Lancashire League but a superb win in the Wood Cup the following day more than made up for that disappointment.
Batting first, Aakash Chopra didn't read the script and he scored at will to record a well-crafted unbeaten 105 that set the home side a victory target of 196.
At the halfway stage, Unsworth were nicely positioned at 99 without loss and the opening pair look untroubled by the Rochdale attack.
However, Chopra caught and bowled Hean for 64 and Entwistle followed soon after for 53 to start a collapse that saw Unsworth fall just ten runs short of their target.
On Sunday, Rochdale dangerman Chopra was sent packing for just eight as reached 211 in their allotted overs.
Unsworth were soon in trouble as they slumped to 24-2 but a sterling 72 from professional MacQueen saw his side home.
However, STAND suffered two more defeats at the weekend as their miserable season continued.
On Saturday, they were sent tumbling to another league defeat at Milnrow before Walsden inflicted more misery in the Wood Cup the following day.
Milnrow batted first and, thanks to an opening partnership of 228 between Max Power (96) and Matt Dawson (125*), laid the foundations for a formidable total of 250-1.
In reply, Stand got off to a solid start courtesy of Warren (23) and Wilkinson (15).
But, once the first wicket fell, the Stand innings collapsed as so often has happened this season to 103 all out.
A trip to Walsden in the first round of the Wood Cup followed.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, it was left to Carl Sutcliffe (22) and O'Beirne (16) to guide the innings to 129 as Plane picked up 4-20.
Thanks to a quickfire 37 from professional Shaun Marsh and a well-timed 42* from Mark Hooson, Walsden reached their target with 27 overs to spare.
