OF course David Smith is correct to say that no official figures exist to show postal voting in advantageous to Labour. Such voting on a large scale is a recent phenomena.
It is, however, generally accepted that Labour supporters are less likely to actually vote than Tories or Lib-Dems, so it is reasonable to assume some advantage to Labour.
What Councillor Smith did not address was the risk of fraud. He must admit, that compared with the secrecy of the polling booth, postal voting affords more opportunity for fraud.
He also failed to comment on my fears that Royal Mail will not be able to handle the extra work.
I am taking my vote by hand to Darwen Town Hall.
