A SEX offender disqualified from working with children has had the order lifted - but still cannot be employed among youngsters.
Rizwan Asghar, 20, was jailed on Monday for eight months for indecently assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the back of a car. At the time of sentence he had been disqualified from working with children.
He was brought back to Burnley Crown Court yesterday, where Judge Stuart Baker said because the defendant had not been sent to prison for at least 12 months he could not be given a disqualification order.
The judge said instead he would make a restraining order under the Sex Offenders Act, because it was necessary to protect the public in general and teenage girls in particular from serious harm from the defendant.
Under the restraining order Asghar was banned from undertaking paid or voluntary work with children under 18 without permission of their parent or legal guardian or the permission of his supervising officer.
Asghar of Halifax Road, Brierfield, was sent to prison after admitting indecent assault. The court had been told he indulged in sex acts with the schoolgirl in the car minutes after meeting her.
