AN Atherton man who falsely claimed that his car had been stolen after he was involved in a car crash was jailed for four months.
Rocky Fearnley was involved in a road traffic accident on March 17 and drove off. Police inquiries led to him and he claimed that his car had been stolen and gave a false name.
He was taken to a police station and while making a statement in the false name was recognised by a policeman, said Paul Hodgkinson, prosecuting.
Twenty-nine year-old Fearnley, of Leigh Road, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was jailed for four months.
