REGARDING the recent reader's letter complaining about cars parking outside the Royal Infirmary, Blackburn.
Apparently many drivers got fined for parking with two wheels on the pavement.
This is amazing to the residents surrounding the hospital, the reason being that this area is a residents' only parking zone. We have to purchase an annual permit, also one for our visitors to display in their cars.
Question: How come cars were booked for two wheels on the pavement, when on the other side of the road there were probably: cars without permits/out of date permits/permits for other parts of Blackburn/cars with disabled passes. All of which are breaking the rules.
Is it unreasonable to ask why have a residents only zone, and charge a permit fee, if it is not enforced properly, i.e. with the same thoroughness as Blackburn town centre? Ask a councillor, and one gets a politician's answer.
It would be most interesting to read, on this page, comments of other readers, (and the evasive replies of the powers that be).
