THE first in a series of walks to guide people around new Tacklers' Trails in Nelson and Brierfield will take place on Saturday.
The trails, linking the community, canals and the cotton industry, are named after overlookers who worked in the mills.
The walks have been created as part of a Canal Corridor Development Strategy project expected to be complete next year. The scheme is scheduled to be further extended to Colne in 2006.
Maureen Roberts will lead the first walk around the Walton Way starting from the Seed Hill canal bridge near Morrisons in Nelson at 2pm.
For more information about the walks or to get involved in the Tacklers' Trails project call David Penney on 01282 870076.
