BAYLEYS Cafe Bar in Darwen will continue to open until late after licensing officers granted it a new entertainment licence - despite concerns from some residents.
John Clay, owner of the bar, applied to renew the licence which allows him to open until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
But the council's licensing committee received several letters from residents complaining about vandalism, noise nuisance and rowdy people coming out of the bar.
At a meeting of Blackburn with Darwen Council's licensing committee, a solicitor speaking on behalf of Mr Clay said: "Music is turned off according to licensing hours and customers are allowed 30 minutes to leave the club. There is no evidence in support of the allegations regarding vandalism in the area.
"The licensee Vicky Davies has suffered some problems with her own car but she does not believe it to be connected to the club."
Committee members agreed that the club should be allowed to continue.
