A NURSE has been shortlisted for a prestigious health award.
Geraldine Platt, sister for the Lung Project Team at Pendle Community Hospital Out-Patients Department, in Leeds Road, Nelson, has been selected as one of three regional finalists for Manager of the Year in the Health and Social Care Regional Awards Ceremony 2004.
The Lung Project Team was established in 2001 to develop and improve services for lung cancer patients.
Sister Platt has played a key part in developing the service.
She said: "The service makes us proud of our department and we would be happy for our own family members to be treated here.
"Patient feedback has demonstrated that we can make a difference to the cancer experience."
Sister Platt will join two other finalists at the regional awards in Manchester on June 7.
Regional winners receive £1,000 and go forward to a National Awards Ceremony in London next month.
National winners in each category will receive £15,000.
