DARWEN gained revenge for last weekend's Cockspur Cup defeat at Chorley with an emphatic 95-run win in the Northern Premier League yesterday.
Electing to bat first, Darwen were given a solid start by Jackson and John Cordingley, who posted 42 for their opening stand.
Professional Keith Semple went for a second ball duck but John and Gareth Cordingley took the score past three figures, the latter going for 31.
John Cordingley eventually went for an innings top score of 45 but another 50 stand between Jeff Hacking and Mark Emery, plus a generous donation of 41 extras from the Chorley bowlers enabled Darwen to post a useful total.
Chorley lost early wickets and only a stand of 56 between Tom Smith and Michael Critchley, who made 42 and 46 respectively, seriously held up the Darwen attack.
Neil Cordingley took 5-12 including three wickets in one over, although last pair Catterall and Holdsworth hung around for 10 overs to cause a few furrowed Darwen brows, Mercer finally wrapped up the 15 points in the 17th of the final 20 overs.
