WORSTHORNE School's recycling scheme for old inkjet and toner cartridges is being extended into the community.

As well as a collection box in school, people can drop cartridges off during the holidays either at Pike Hill Post Office or Worsthorne Post Office.

Instead of throwing away old inkjet and toner cartridges, people are being urged to help Worsthorne School make a little extra money from them.

THE Wine Circle's annual treasure hunt takes place on Monday evening, leaving from the village at 6.45pm.

A SERVICE of Thanksgiving marking the 60th Anniversary of the D Day Landings and start of the Normandy Campaign takes place on Sunday at the town centre War Memorial in Croft Street, starting at 2.30pm.

The Service will be conducted by Canon Tom Bill, Rector of the Burnley Parish Church of St Peter and Chaplain of the Royal British Legion, and attended by the Deputy Mayor of Burnley, Councillor John Harbour.

COUNCILLOR Alan Lawson, vice-chairman of the Parish Council, is investigating the rumour that a telecommunication mast is to be erected in the Pike Hill area of Worsthorne.

Coun Lawson said: "I understand that only informal talks have taken place between planning officers and the phone company.

" No application has yet been received."

THE Parochial Church Council has agreed in principle to a ask for a young people's group to be held in the Church Rooms on Friday evenings.

WORSTHORNE Arts & Crafts Fair celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

It will run from July 31 to August 8.

Donations of house plants are requested for the plant stall.
