THE first East Lancashire schools set to benefit from a new county council safety drive have been named.
The primary schools are all set to have traffic measures introduced in the roads outside their gates as a way of keeping pupils safe.
Whalley C of E School, in the Ribble Valley, could get a new zebra crossing in Station Road and councillors are also considering improving pedestrian access routes and provide a footpath where a play area emerges into Church Lane.
Hurst Green St Joseph's RC School could get a new footpath from a lay-by adjacent to Whalley Road leading to primary school.
In Leyland, there are talks of a new crossing in Leyland Lane that would allow and encourage cyclists to access Worden High and Wellfield High School.
