TEENAGERS from Yorkshire are being offered the chance to win holidays in the Ribble Valley in return for working hard in school.
Pupils in Leeds who attend study support centres out of school hours are being offered the chance to stay at hotels and guest houses in Hurst Green -- because J R R Tolkien also holidayed there while writing the Lord of The Rings books.
It is said that parts of the Ribble Valley's characteristics gave him the inspiration for Middle Earth.
The study support centres, run by Leeds City Council, use animation and performing arts sessions based on The Lord of the Rings.
Dawn Harper, manager of Co-op Travel, which donated the prizes, said: "The centre is doing really interesting activities and giving the young people plenty of opportunities."
