A POLICE inspector in Rossendale is leaving the post to take on a new role within the force.

Geographic Inspector Caroline Edwards has taken charge of the team policing in Rossendale West.

She replaces Roger Ravenscroft, who has taken up a new post as head of Community Safety at Pennine Division.

Insp Ravenscroft, 42, who has been in Rawtenstall for more than two years, will be based at Padiham Police station where he will work with partner agencies throughout East Lancashire as part of his new job.

He will look after the crime prevention department, minorities Team, youth liaison team and volunteer co-ordinators.

He said: "It's been a really enjoyable experience working in the Rossendale Valley.

"I have met some very good, hard-working people in the borough, who have the will to make the area a fantastic place to live."

Mr Ravenscroft added: "I am very excited about the new challenges.

"I am looking forward to making new contacts and getting my face known throughout East Lancashire.

"I wish Caroline all the best in her new role. I am sure she'll make a great inspector and do Rossendale proud."
