THE 60th Anniversary of D-Day was marked in great style in the Great Barn of Gawthorpe Hall.
The band 'Parade' had the crowd jiving and jigging and many of the older dancers showed off their skills to the younger generations.
IT is Padiham's Walking Day on Sunday. People of the various churches in Padiham and Hapton are asked to meet at St John's at 10.15am and the procession will walk to St Leonard's where an ecumenical service will be held.

PEOPLE who park illegally in Padiham are being warned about their inconsiderate actions. Complaints have been received about vans which are left on Burnley Road after their owners have loaded or unloaded them. These cause bottlenecks on the busy road.
PLANNING permission is being sought to erect a 2.4-metre fence at Padiham Primary School in a move to help to prevent vandalism.
PADIHAM Green Primary School are recycling 'Yellow Pages' directories. Please leave them at the school's reception desk.
THE next meeting of Padiham Town Council will take place at 7pm on Monday and the next meeting of Hapton Parish Council will take place on Tuesday at 7pm in the school hall.
HAPTON'S Environment Committee has been busy lately. Hanging baskets and tubs have appeared throughout the village and are brightening up the area. Thanks from the villagers.

HAPTON Post Office is now operating on reduced hours which came into force on Tuesday, June 1. There are: Monday, 9am-12.30pm and 2pm-5.30pm; Tuesday, 9am-12.30pm and 2pm-5.30pm; Wednesday, 9am-noon; Thursday, 9am-12.30pm and 2pm-5.30pm; Friday, 9am-12.30pm, 2pm-5.30pm. Saturday, closed.
