ASTLEY & Tyldesley Roadrunners successfully hosted their first ever race last Wednesday - the Gin Pit 5.
Eighty runners from all over the North West turned out to race in which local lad Peter Riley won in an impressive 24mins 27secs. Peter, who is coached by Joe Galvin of Leigh Harriers, produced a course record originally set by Shaun Moran.
Lots of local runners ran the course and seemed impressed with the club set up and hopefully it will encourage them to join.
Nick White, Brian Lucas, Lorraine Lucas, Colin Miller, Colin Kay, Rob Mason, Paul Pritchard and Mike Race all from the Atherton and Leigh area turned out and ran respectable times on the testing course.
Astley & Tyldesley Road Runners were onshone by teams from Salford and Wesham but the lads still produced a good performance with Anthony Battersby, John Lee and Craig Bradbury leading the way for the team.
