GOLBORNE CC firsts suffered a disappointing weekend of cricket as they were crushed by both Spring View and Daisy Hill.
On Saturday they managed to reduce Spring View to a respectable 197 for 8, but a batting collapse of 101 all out meant Golborne lost by 96 runs.
The star man for Golborne was Dale Tyrer as he picked up three wickets and hit an impressive 37. Experienced campaigner Tony Greenwood also bowled well, taking four wickets from his 18 over spell. Rudd (42), Sarkar (33) and James (38) top scored for Spring View.
Only Tyrer and Barry Greenwood (20) put up any batting resistance as wickets tumbled regularly. Golborne were eventually bowled out after 30 overs with Hart and Turnbull taking three wickets a piece for Spring View.
The following day, Golborne entertained Daisy Hill at Simpson fields, but it was a similar tale as they lost by 100 runs.
Batting first, Daisy Hill managed 187 runs for 9 off their 48 overs. Brooks and Marsh both scored 27 and the imposing Afridi smashed a devastating 69 until he fell victim of a brilliant catch from Brunt off the bowling of Shah.
In reply, Golborne got off to a poor start as they soon found themselves 39 for 5. Brunt hit a decent 26, Tyrer made 10 and Urbani 9 but again Golborne's batting failed and they slumped to 87 all out.
