BRITAIN'S first World Indoor athletics' champion will visit Lowton Community Sports College this week for a guided tour around the school.
A selection of primary school pupils will receive tips from John Regis on their athletic techniques as they practise on the school sports fields then the record-breaking athlete will present pupils from each year group with awards for their successful completion of an online quiz about his sporting career. John's 15 years career was finally ended by a hamstring injury after he'd set four British records outdoors and three indoors at 200m between 1987 and 1994. He was also a record-breaking relay team member and in 1989 he became Britain's first World Indoor Champion at 200m.
The following year he won a record four medals including a gold in the 4x400m in the European Championships.
