RADCLIFFE Carnival gets underway on Saturday morning at the Red Bank playing fields in Unsworth Street.

Silcocks fair opens at 11am and the judging of the floats will take place between 1pm and 1.30pm, followed by the procession and parade between 2pm and 4pm. A parade of queens will run from 4.30pm.

The parade will start from the fields at Unsworth Street, and go along Lowe Street, Ainsworth Road, Water Street, Blackburn Street, Pilkington Way, Stand Lane, Church Street, Rectory Lane, Spring Lane, Water Street and back to Unsworth Street.

The roads will be closed from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

The queen for 2004, Sarah-Elizabeth Wiles, will take part in the parade, along with the other members of the Radcliffe royalty.

On Sunday, there will be a car boot sale at 10am and morris dancing from 11am. The fair will be open throughout the weekend, between 11am and 10pm on Saturday, and from 11am to 6pm on Sunday.
