A 'SONGS of Praise' event, hosted by a national radio presenter, is being arranged to mark the end of a year in office for Chorley's mayor.
Coun Eric Bell has drafted in pals from all walks of life for the service of thanksgiving at St John's CE Church, in Whittle-le-Woods.
Mountaineer Boyd Harris, ex-scout leader Roy Fisher, mayoral chaplain Eric Lacey, and well-travelled vicar Alan Winstanley, are all lined up to appear at the service, hosted by Radio 4 presenter Judy Merry who lives in Withnell Fold.
Coun Bell, whose mayoral stint ends on June 22, said: "I've had a wonderful year in office and it seems right that I should hold a service of thanksgiving at the end of my term.
"All the people appearing will answer a few questions about their life, and then choose a hymn, similar to the Songs of Praise format.
"They've all had really varied and interesting lives and all are friends of mine."
Coun Bell also hopes to boost funds for his mayoral charities, including Derian House and St Catherine's hospices.
At the beginning of the year, he aimed to raise £20,000 and revealed he is close to the target.
Chorley Junior Silver Brass Band will provide music at the service, which takes place on Sunday, June 13, at 6.30pm.
Entrance is free.
