THE millions of pounds worth of modern Brit artwork destroyed in a warehouse blaze is no sad loss.

Some of the hideous pieces by Turner prize winners Damien Hirst and Tracy Emin needed burning. I don't call Emin's tent embroidered with the names of all her 102 lovers (and valued at £40,000) classical pieces to be saved for posterity.

Good riddance to them I'd say. I've seen better work at exhibitions by local artists in the Turnpike Gallery.
