BROOKSBOTTOM slipped back back to their Jekyll and Hyde ways against Euxton at the weekend.

Brox produced one of their most disappointing performances of the season after a run of three impressive victories in recent weeks.

Euxton may well have had the better of the conditions and they certainly used that to their advantage.

The home side batted first and soon had Brox on the ropes.

They got off to a flyer after an early rain break and Brox were firmly on the back foot thereafter.

Despite a manful but luckless spell from Read, all Euxton's batsmen made hay in the sun, with Millward getting a well-crafted half-century.

That Euxton were restricted to 192-7 in their 42 overs was due to a clinical display of spin bowling from Gareth Williams.

His seven overs late in the innings produced three welcome wickets for just 23.

The challenging target looked even further away as Brox lost early wickets.

When Ashcroft was the fourth man out, just 32 runs had been made.

Built around Trevor Morton's solid contribution of 32, the middle order and tail managed to rally but, lacking the really big knock that was needed, 192 proved an insurmountable target.

Captain Ernill took a late blow to the head and this summed up the day for the Summerseat men.
