BURY CTC and Bury Clarion cycle clubs are inviting riders to join them on their annual Charlie Westlake Memorial Ride this Sunday (June 6).
There are a choice of two routes this year and both are hilly but completely on-road.
There is the usual 54km (34 miles) ride which is recommended for the less experienced rider, or a longer more testing ride of 105km (63 miles).
Both rides start at Castle Leisure Centre and finish at Millcroft Tea Gardens in Norden and for the first 30km both follow the same route. The longer ride will also take in the area around Pendle Hill.
Sponsors are invited and riders encouraged to get themselves sponsored in aid of Bury Hospice.
All riders will receive a route sheet and map and a certificate will be distributed for finishers within 4 hours for the shorter ride adn 7 hours for the longer one.
However, this is not a race adn the idea is to enjoy the countryside while taking in some of the most scenic (and hilly) roads in the area.
Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult and signed parental consent is needed for all under-18s (this can be done at the start). There is a small entry fee.
For either ride meet for compulsory registration between 9am and 9.15am at Castle Leisure Centre, Bolton Street, Bury.
Both rides start at 9.30am and riders who aren't registered will not quality for a certificate.
