TWO nurses at Fairfield General Hospital were rewarded for their dedication to patient care on the birthday of Florence Nightingale.

They were Joanne Weetman and Rachel Turner who were among those honoured at the annual Pennine Acute Trust Nursing Awards on May 12.

Joanne was named midwife of the year for her role in promoting midwifery-led care. Colleagues also praised her provision of care for mums and babies.

Rachel, a senior sister, was praised for her management of a five-strong team in the diagnostics and support department.

She has developed protocols which have led to improved services for patients, along with nurse-led clinics for patients who need medication to thin their blood.

In North Manchester General, Sister Rebecca Grice was rewarded for her dedication on ward F4. She was nominated by staff who praised the impact she had on the ward, raising morale and helping motivate her team.
