AS families in Prestwich and Whitefield celebrated the Jewish festival of Shavuot last week, children at local schools were taught about the importance of the occasion.
Yungsters at King David Infant School were told the story of when Moses was given the ten commandments, or laws, on Mount Sinai.
Shavuot, which is also known as the Feast of Weeks, is celebrated at this anniversary along with the season of harvest in Israel, exactly seven weeks after the celebration of the Passover.
