EIGHT learners proved they were the "creme de la creme" when it comes to continuing their education.
They all attend day or evening classes in the borough, and were presented with Learner of the Year awards during national Adult Learners Week.
The presentations were made by Mr Harold Williams, the council's director of education and culture, at the Whitefield Centre in Higher Lane, Whitefield.
The winners were: Neil Spencer (new learner), of Parr Fold, Unsworth; Paul Cleator (widening participation), of Woolfield House, Bury; Azad Ahmed (ESOL), of South Cross Street, Bury; Emma Hennessy (crafts), of Bleakholt Road, Turn Village; Ann Marie Green (textiles), of Whitewell Close, Bury; Eva Saville (over-60s), of Farm Lane, Simister; Paul Davis (new skills using IT), of Wellington Street West, Salford; and Debbie Tomlinson (modern foreign languages), of Fountain Place, Whitefield.
