A PART-TIME taxi driver caught out over the limit was abusive to police and claimed they were torturing him.
Burnley magistrates heard how father of three Arshad Ali, 37, had been shouting and swearing after he was stopped and his behaviour was "even more appalling," at the custody office.
Ali, of Vernon Street, Nelson, admitted driving with excess alcohol and threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour. He was fined £150 and banned for 12 months.
Mercedah Jabbari, prosecuting, told the court plain clothes police saw the defendant travelling along Brunswick Street, Nelson, very slowly.
He was all over the road and swerving.
Sajjad Karim, defending, said Ali's actions were totally out of character.
