NURSES at Fairfield Hospital and North Manchester General have been rewarded for their dedication to patient care on the birthday of Florence Nightingale.
Among those honoured in the annual Pennine Acute Trust Nursing Awards last month were two from Fairfield and one from North Manchester.
Joanne Weetman was named Midwife of the Year. Joanne, who works at Fairfield, won the award for her role in promoting midwifery-led care. Colleagues also praised her provision of care for mums and babies.
Senior sister Rachel Turner, who also works at Fairfield, was praised for her management of a five-strong team in the diagnostics and support department. She has developed protocols which have led to improved services for patients, along with nurse-led clinics for patients who need medication to thin their blood.
At North Manchester General, Sister Rebecca Grice was rewarded for her dedication on ward F4. She was nominated by staff who praised the impact she had made on the ward, raising morale and helping to motivate her team while administering excellent care to patients.
