GRASS roots action is the focus of a new 12-month drive to encourage people to make more impact on green issues.
As communities across the globe celebrate World Environment Day on Sunday, a campaign has been launched closer to home to get people involved.
Agenda for Action hopes to inspire Lancaster and Morecambe locals to take steps towards improving their surroundings by showcasing what others are already doing.
The Citizen is lending its support to the campaign by helping to highlight what is being done, and what could be done, in a series of features over the coming months.
Local residents, businesses, organisations and community groups are driving the campaign under the banner of the 'Agenda 21 Partnership'.
As part of the campaign, organisers are running a 'No Hiding your Projects' competition, appealing for people to tell them about their own activities.
Local Agenda 21 Partnership chairman Cllr Gina Dowding says the campaign is 'a very positive way of celebrating all the good work already taking place in the district and will hopefully encourage local communities to do even more'.
