FOUR Radcliffe Swimming Club members have excelled in two different forms of triathlon recently.

Laura Thomasson and Bethany Kinsler were competing in the National Triathlon Championships in Wolverhampton.

This event involves a swim, a run and an air pistol shoot.

The girls had qualified for the prestigious competition through a regional qualifier held in Preston.

Considering it was their first taste of National competition both girls performed with great credit and have a big future ahead of them.

Laura was in the 10 years age group and in the swim achieved a personal best over the 50 metre distance.

A good run and shoot saw her finish in ninth place.

Bethany was competing in the 11-12 age group. She had a strong run, a good swim and shoot and finished in 30th place overall.

This was a particularly fine result as she is still eligible to compete in this age group next year.

Lee and Louis Syzmanski were the other two Radcliffe Swimmers in action.

They were competing in the Salford Triathlon at Irlam which involved a bike ride instead of a pistol shoot.

The swim is held in Irlam Pool and the run and bike ride in an adjacent park.

Louis (12) was in the 12-13 year age group and was up against opposition from all over the country including the Isle of Man.

He enjoyed a good run and swim and finished in fourth place.

Lee was competing in the 15-16 year age group and was again up against some strong opposition.

Lee had an exceptional bike ride and along with a steady run and swim he finished in first place.

The club competes in these type of competitions throughout the year and anyone wishing to know more about them can contact Mark Evans at Radcliffe Swimming Club on Wednesday evenings.
