A MAJOR new development on the main route into Blackpool will not be completed until next spring, the borough council has admitted.
New plans were submitted this week for the Central Corridor Gateway scheme, an attractive landscaped reception area on what are now car parks along Seasiders Way. It will also see the demolition of Bloomfield Road bridge.
A council spokesman said: "The ambitious and exciting Central Gateway Project, which aims to regenerate one of the main access routes into the town centre, is a two-stage process and we are now embarking on the second stage.
"This latest version will need full planning permission and the earliest it could go before the Development Control Committee is June 28.
"The Council is keen to keep the community informed on developments and proposals include a new information centre and leaflet drops in the area."
