FAST food customers are creating a litter headache for residents living close to a KFC restaurant in Blackburn, a meeting was told.
Managers at the Haslingden Road shop have applied for planning permission to build an extension and extend a car park.
But residents told a meeting of Blackburn with Darwen Council's planning and highways committee that cars were damaging a fence that backed on to their gardens and litter was not being cleaned up properly.
Rita Adams, of Haslingden Road, said: "Litter is a real problem which is getting worse. Bags and cartons are thrown into our gardens and there aren't enough litter bins or notices."
Coun Ashley Whalley said: "There are serious litter problems that we need to be looking at and I have seen photographs taken by residents in Old Bank Lane."
The committee decided to defer a decision about whether the extension should be built until they had visited the area.
