A WOULD-BE conman who tried to cash a pension book at a post office was given a six-month community rehabilitation order.
Burnley magistrates heard how Michael James Brierley, 30, who also helped himself to a £9.99 bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey from a shop, had now been free of drugs for two years.
The defendant, of Bright Street, Colne, admitted attempted deception, two charges of handling stolen goods and failing to surrender. He was also fined £50 and told to pay £75 costs.
