AN elderly couple had their savings stolen by a bogus caller who tricked his way into their Accrington home.
The caller pretended he had arrived to collect rubbish from the Charter Street address at about noon on Wednesday, June 2. After speaking to the couple, he tricked his way in and was eventually left alone.
He then stole two purses, key, two rings, gold jewellery, locket and chain and cash.
The property is estimated to be worth about £1,300, and has great sentimental value. The culprit was about 6ft tall, 40 to 50 years old and slim, with short, straight brown hair and possibly a moustache.
He was wearing a grey T-shirt and dark jeans.
Sergeant Claire Holbrook of Accrington police said: "This type of despicable crime committed by people who prey on the elderly and vulnerable is something that we are particularly keen to detect."
To help, call the police on 01254 382141.
