DARWEN enjoyed two seven-wicket victories during the weekend.

On Saturday in the Northern League, they scored 197 for the loss of three wickets as they overhauled newcomers Barrow to secure 12 points.

On Sunday, they progressed in the Thwaites' Lancashire Knockout as they comfortably scored the 111 required to defeat Bolton League side Kearsley.

Barrow were asked to bat on Saturday and led by professional Louis, who scored a brisk 50, they aimed to set an unassailable target.

The large crowd enjoyed some fine batting from the home team as Keith Semple hit a bight 59 including eight fours. This was followed by Gareth and Neil Cordingley who put together a match winning partnership of 80. Neil finished the match in style hitting a huge six which also took him to 50 leaving his brother not out on 47.

On Saturday, Darwen seconds also picked up 12 points as the beat Barrow. Chris Davies took six wickets as Barrow were restricted to 110, and Dominic Heys hit a fine 70 as he led Darwen's reply.
