RADCLIFFE'S Karl Boyes clinched the frame that retained the 888.Com World 8-Ball Pool men's team title for England in Blackpool.
Boyes, at 20 the youngest member of the England squad, defeated Gary Clarke to earn his country an 8-3 victory over Northern Ireland in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
"I was nervous but not as much as I thought," Boyes said.
"I would liked to have done better in the individual competition. But I can't complain about getting the frame that won the world title."
Boyes' England team mate Mick Hill won the individual title with an 11-9 victory over Darren Appleton.
Team manager Richard Ellis said: "Karl was exceptional considering it was his first time on television.
"But the whole team did well. The Irish put out their strongest players first.
"Happily, we got off to a good start and managed to keep it going."
