A WOMAN has been accused of murdering her husband five weeks after they were married.

Catherine Marie Osliffe, 33, was charged after the death of Ian Roger Osliffe, 34, from stab wounds.

Mr Osliffe, a fencer, was taken to Blackburn Infirmary from the couple's home in Green Park, Whalley, early on Sunday. He died as surgeons battled to save his life.

His wife, a mother-of-two, whom he married on April 30 at Whalley Parish Church - less than 100 yards from where the couple lived - was due before Blackburn magistrates today.

Mr Osliffe's parents, Ann and Michael, live in the village. He also has a brother. Friends said he has a son from a previous relationship, who lives in Chatburn.

His family were continuing to be comforted by relatives today, and declined to comment on their loss.

The couple's semi-detached house home was being guarded by police yesterday.

Several bunches of flowers had been placed on a rockery close to the front of the house.

The van Mr Osliffe used for work was still parked outside.

Mrs Osliffe's maiden name was Johnson, and she is thought to be from the Langho area. She is a teacher at Preston Prison.
