JOHN Hughes is the new manager of Chorley Football Club.
The appointment of the former Magpies stalwart, who led Great Harwood Town to promotion from North West Counties League Division Two last season, was confirmed by chairman Ken Wright this morning.
"We are pleased to have him," said Wright, who himself had two spells as Chorley boss. "He did a good job at Harwood and sees this challenge as a good way to make a name for himself.
"He played for me for a number of years at Chorley and Horwich and if he turns out to be half as good a manager as he was a player he'll do for me."
Jim McBride, who took over as caretaker manager at the end of the season after Mark Patterson resigned, was one of the applicants Hughes beat to the job.
