A GREATER Manchester Police officer has been awarded a CBE.
Detective Superintendent David Brown, who has worked at the police training college at Sedgley Park in Prestwich, has been recognised for his outstanding services to policing.
Mr Brown, from Sale, joined Greater Manchester Police (GMP) in 1969 and began his police career at Moss Side. He has worked across the force in Prestwich, Longsight, Manchester airport, and Grey Mare Lane.
For the last three years he has worked as head of GMP's serious and organised crime unit. He has received four Chief Constable's Commendations throughout his career.
Commenting on his award, Mr Brown said: "It is a real honour and surprise to be recognised with such a highly-esteemed award. It stands as a tribute to many years of hard work by colleagues and myself."
