SCHOOL children across the borough are enjoying learning the history of the 18th century Heaton Hall.
Volunteers from the Friends of Heaton Hall are taking part in an education programme designed to explain the hall's background, what it was used for, and its current role.
Shirley Gilmore, from Parkville Road, Prestwich, was the first volunteer in the group and takes the role of a ladies' maid in the Song, Story and Rhyme sessions taking place at the hall.
Ex-teacher Shirley said: "I'm enjoying being involved with the Friends group and I'm so glad the hall is being used for things like this. It's a great way to introduce children to visiting places like this. They are learning and having fun at the same time."
Anyone interested in joining the Friends of Heaton Hall or who wants to arrange a visit can call Janet Kendall, development officer, on 0161 773 1085 or email j.kendall@notes.
