SIX police bobbies will be back on the beat on Monday with sore feet after swapping pavements for paths on a charity challenge.
The community beat officers from Blackburn are off on a Three Peaks Challenge this weekend and are hoping for dry weather as they scale Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon in under 24 hours.
And the team headed by Sergeant Paul Goodall are prepared for more than the odd blister in their bid to raise £1,000 for Victim Support.
"If we set a steady pace I hope we will be all right," said Paul. "It is quite strenuous and very tiring. We have been up to the Lakes to do some training but some of us are certainly fitter than others so it should be interesting."
The money, raised from sponsorship from schools and businesses in all 14 community beats, will go towards equipping a new centre for child victims of crime and robbery in Blackburn.
The team includes Stuart Roberts, 34, who covers Brookhouse beat, Tony Ellison, 33, Audley, Steve Jenkinson, 28, Whitebirk, Vikki Warrington, 26, Galligreaves, and Sarah Carlick, 30, who works on the family protection project.
