AN ANIMAL rights activist is joining hundreds of naked people on a run through the streets in Spain to protest at the treatment of animals in the famous Pamplona bull run.
William Fisher, 33, of Cemetery Road, Ribbleton, will be among of crowd of about 300 protesters, from across the world, wearing nothing but a red scalf and pair of plastic horns.
The event, organised by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), takes place in Pamplona, northern Spain on July 5, two days before the Running of the Bulls event.
It is PETA's third annual human race, and the aim is to let tourists know there is an alternative to inciting a stampede of panicked animals which, according to PETA, are tormented and slaughtered in the bull ring later that day.
William, who works as a volunteer at the YMCA shop in St John's Shopping Centre, Preston, is not sure yet if he dare bare all in the 'Running of the Nudes', but he is determined to take part -- with or without shorts -- in the headline grabbing campaign to help raise awareness.
He said: "I think I'll just do it in some shorts because I don't think I'm as brave as the others.
"You never know though, I might do it at the last moment!"
And he added: "By running in such a high profile way we are raising awareness and giving the bulls a voice.
"They can't defend themselves so we are trying to do it for them."
