GLITZ, glamour and garish cabaret is on tap at the Lowry marquee for six weeks as a spicy tour hits the Lowry, Salford.

The Ladyboys of Bangkok are pitching in for a unique performance which is as tantalising as it is strange.

The Thai Spice Tour has all the usual treats for a good night's fun - there's drum rolls, sparkling lighting and more than a fair share of dramatic costumes. But the Ladyboys boast what no-one else does - a quest to explore the 'third sex'.

For all the 16 entertainers in the show are men, dressed convincingly as women. They are amazingly beautiful and, wearing skimpy bikinis, will probably bring you to question how you look at the other sex.

In Thailand they are known as Kathoey and enjoy a recognised position in the community as courageous explorers of the 'third sex'.

They challenge the Western notions of sexuality. Even the term transvestite falls far short of their quest.

The acts range from comedy spoofs of Sister Act 2 and set dance routines to popular tracks like Fame and the Cheeky Girls.

They've certainly got all the female mannerisms down to a tee.

The show won acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival and with two shows a night is creating a cult following.

But prudes beware!

Box Office: 0870 111 2000. Until mid-July.
